Jane Freebody

Jane FreebodyJane graduated from Kings College Hospital in London in 1978. She has over 30 years experience as a physiotherapist largely with people with long term neurological conditions, both adults and children.

Since moving to Oxfordshire, 18 years ago, Jane has worked at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre where she set up the initial pathway for multilevel surgery in Cerebral palsy and then part time in the Community Trust until this August. For the last 13 years Jane has held a part time post in the Oxford University department of Clinical Neurology working as the specialist physiotherapist for Adults with Neuromuscular Diseases. During this time Jane has collaborated on clinical research, co authored a book, spoken at national conferences and been a member of the working party for the National Service Framework for Neuromuscular Conditions.

In 2007 she moved to a part time research role with Oxford Brookes University for year working on the ‘LIFE Study’- A study designed to evaluate the barriers to exercise and the effect of exercise for people with long term progressive neurological conditions when those barriers are overcome.

From 2008-2013 she and Jennifer enjoyed a successful collaboration managing the Oxfordshire Community Children’s Physiotherapy Service.

Throughout her career Jane has been actively involved as a volunteer with International Disability sport and is a qualified international classifier for athletics, officiating at competitions worldwide.
